WY-ICARE's mission is grounded in the inherent dignity and equal rights of all people. This policy articulates the organisation's commitment to respecting, promoting and protecting human rights across its programmes, partnerships, employment practices and advocacy.
It applies to all staff, volunteers, partners, contractors and representatives, and to every community in which WY-ICARE works, with particular attention to women, youth, internally displaced persons and other marginalised groups.
Non-discrimination: no discrimination on the basis of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, religion, language, sexual orientation, displacement status or any other status.
Participation: communities have the right to participate in decisions affecting them; WY-ICARE commits to accessible, inclusive consultation and feedback mechanisms in English, Hausa, Arabic and French.
Do no harm: all programmes undergo contextual risk analysis to avoid unintended harm; safeguarding and PSEAH standards are non-negotiable.
Equality of women and youth: programming actively advances gender equality, youth leadership and inclusive access to resources, skills and decision-making.
WY-ICARE upholds fair recruitment, equal pay for equal work, safe working conditions, freedom of association and the prohibition of child labour and forced labour in its own operations and supply chains.
Any person who believes WY-ICARE has violated their rights may raise a complaint through the accountability and complaints channels, or confidentially through the whistleblowing channel. Complaints are acknowledged within 48 hours and addressed through the complaints-handling procedure.
